What’s the chances of survival after surgery of a 76 yr old with emphysema?
He has not gone through colonoscopy yet but a mass was palpated in his rectum and he has all the symptoms of a colon cancer.
If determined that it is a colon cancer, I believe "surgery" is the best treatment outthere.....what are the risks of undergoing through a long, tedious surgery, chemotherapy, etc. because of his age and emphysema?

my nana has kidney cancer that spread to the lung – survival chances?
hello..my nana was diagnosed with renal cell kidney cancer about 6 months ago..the kidney got removed and it was also mentioned that there was a small dot on the lung but they didnt no what it was. since the operation to remove the kidney about 3 month ago she has felt 100% fit and healthy just as before she got the cancer. We all thought it was pretty much over with until today when she had a check up about the lung and several spots have been found (which was a suprise since she is feeling so good). When i read on the internet it would class it as stage 4 which is weird because she is fine and no doctors or any1 have mentioned that shes likely to die because on the internet it says 80%+ people die within 5 years once it spreads to another organ.
would my nana still be in this group? Or would she have a much better chance since she is so healthy at the moment and the main tumor on the kidney is already gone?
any help or thoughts are apreciated

lung cancer is there a chance of survival?
My good friend has been diagnosed with small cell carcignomia(lung cancer) not sure what stage yet but is there a chance he will survive this. all my research i have done online doesnt make this seem like a possibility. i have asked many questions bout this sorry just very confused concerned. He has two small children they are 2 and 5 and i just feel so bad for him. So far what we know is that both lobes in the left lung are 45% affected, he has been coughing up blood and experiencing shortness of breath. He was just diagnosed and pretty much just accepted he is gonna die, but i am having a hard time with it. I dont know what to say to him about it, it makes me tear up everytime i think about it

A few month ago we discovered that my mom has lung cancer and cancer in her bones, the doctor says that shes in her 4th stage and that she probably had the disease for almost a yr. I just wanted to know if there is any chance of survival cos i dont want to loose her.

My boyfriend has lung cancer. He had surgery to remove it last year, however they could not get it all. He just found out that is has spread over 80% in one of his lungs and now is workin its way to another organ. What are his chances are of survival if he starts treatment? What can he (or I) do to help him? Can the lung be removed?
Most importantly, how can I help him? He feels like he is dying and I dont know what to say or do.

Our close family friend found out she has breast cancer a few weeks ago and is getting a double masectomy tomorrow (June 6). I know she probably be fine but there are always risks. Are the chances of survival good for someone having a double masectomy?
Thanks to everyone who replied back. To answer the one question, I'm not sure if she is getting reconstructive surgery. I just wanted know what the risks were during the operation and even after. They say my cancer is about the size of a grape right now.I want them to operate but,they say my lungs are to bad.I'm just starting out and its a slow growing cancer.My mom had the same thing about 18 months ago.They took hers out and shes been cancer free since.I'm scared though because my 41 yr.old sister died last July 06 from cancer.Hers was spead though her body.Different kind I think.I'm not wealthy so I can not travel to get alot of different kinds of help.I live in Ohio.Can I survive with only radiation or chemo?

My grandma has advanced stomach cancer, but she's had an x-ray that shows something on her lung, and she feels like she has a lump in her throat and can't eat so she's being drip fed.
They're taking a biopsy from her throat and her bone.
So it sounds like it's spread. We don't know for definate yet.

Does it start when the cancer is discovered? When they think the cancer started growing? If it has metastasized from somewhere else, does the clock start over again? My husband learned he had kidney cancer in 2007. He had a complete nephrectomy in October. The doctor told him that the tumor had probably been growing for two years before we found it. What are the survival stats for lung cancer?

I'm feeling abit devastated today as my mum has just announced that she has lung cancer. She does not know which type of lung cancer it is as I belive there are two different types. Is one type worse than other?
Also she has had her CT scan and should be going in for a camera to be out down her nose this week to see into her lungs. The CT scan showed that there is some lymph nodes attached to this. After searching on the internet this means it is at least stage 2a lung cancer is that correct?
My mum has had no symptoms apart from a bad cough (but not coughing blood) and is only 48 years old. The doc says the tumor looks about 5cm (I dont know if this is big or small) and not 8cm as she originally thought. Basically I want to know if my mum is going to die soon or if there is a good chance she can fight it off? I'm sorry for asking alot of questions but I'm worried. Any answers will be appreciated.
