Stage four breast cancer?

Hi I am 14 years old and my mom has stage four breast cancer. She just went for a scan and it has been at a stan still for awhile now. She has little spots around her lungs, but they shrunk with the chemo. So its not big but its still stage four. I heard that she really only has like 5 years to live from some websites. Is this true??? How long could people really live with this. She gets a scan every 3 months and if its active she goes for chemo. It hasnt become active yet. But can someone please give me some more info on it.

Should a 76 yr. old woman diagnosed with stage 2 breast cancer decide to not go with radiation after surgery?

Due to age, possible damage of skin and/or internal organs wanting to maintain quality of life. Is this a common choice of older cancer patients?

Canine Lung Cancer End Stage Symptoms???

I have an 11 year old male collie who was diagnosed with lung cancer last September.
Over the last few weeks I have noticed a marked increase in his panting. The panting is NOT coincident with the temperature as I have been consistently maintaining the home at approx. 75 degrees since he arrived to me.

Has anyone had experience with this diagnosis in their dogs? Is the increased panting a way for him to try to get adequate O2 levels?

Any info would be so greatly appreciated!
There are no smokers in the home.

Such wonderful helpful responses so far! Thank you ALL so much!

My dad has stage 4 melanoma skin cancer spread to the lungs how long will he have to live?

My dad has been struggling with cancer for about 4 yrs now. The first time the cancer was found in the bladder, kidneys. He now has only one kidney. Later he was diagnosed with melanoma skin cancer at stage 3. Back in Nov 2007 he had a surgery removing some lymph nodes and then he began chemo shortly after which made him to sick and he quit taking it after about 3 wks. That was December07-Jan08 about 3wks ago in May 08 they found that the cancer has spread to the lungs and I believe there are 2nodes in each lung and now I was told my dad has stage 4 melanoma skin cancer. I just want some information I have a 10yr old son and his papaw is his world. My dad is only 54 yrs old I want to know what the lifspan is. All honesty be blunt I need to know and prepare myself and my son.

Outlook for someone with stage IV kidney cancer?

I was wondering if anyone knew the life expectancy of someone with Stage IV kidney cancer. My dad was diagnosed back in January, and he has a grapefruit sized tumor on his kidney, it has metastisized to his lungs (1 cm lesions), he has another small mass behind his esophagus, and it has spread to his brain. He just finished his second and last round of radiation on his entire brain, and he is about to start his 3rd round of chemo next week.

The reason I am asking if anyone has any information about it is because he refuses to tell me or anyone else in my family. He doesnt want to worry anyone or make anyone feel sorry for him. I have read online that it has a low survival rate, something like 15% of people live 5 years, and some websites say people can live anywhere from 8 months to 14 months. I just need some information from someone who actually has been there or knows someone who has.

Please, no trolls, this is a very serious question.
Thank you guys. This is just a really hard thing for me. My dad and I werent close in the past, I mean, he and my mom divorced when I was really young and they always had a bad relationship and my mom literally moved me away for several years and he had no idea where I was. And once I got into my teens I was getting into all sorts of trouble and that just pushed us further apart. It really wasnt until the birth of my daughter 2 years ago that brought us closer. And it just feels like right when we're trying to repai our relationship it all goes to crap basically. Its just really hard.

My brother-in-law found out he has stage 2 prostate cancer can you help me with this?

They do not know if it has spread yet to other organs. that makes all the difference in the world to his treatment and to his prognosis. If they had taken 16 samples in the biopsy and 5 came out positive wouldnt that be a sign that it has not spread?

Is my mom going to be okay? She was diagnosed with stage 1 breast cancer.?

About 3 or 4 months ago my mom was diagnosed with stage 1 breast cancer. She had a mastectomy done about 2 weeks ago. It went well but she's been very week lately and always getting sick. The doctors told her she'll need radiology and possibly chemo. She also has something in her blood. I'm only 16 so I'm worried and it's been depressing me. Anyone know anything?
