Whydo women think breast cancer is so bad compared to men’s health issues?

men have it worse worse than women. i always hear "breast cancer" whenever which gender has a harder health , and of course, its sexist to say anything back.
in reality, men die younger of every medical issue, including cancer and heart disease, men do not have an extra X to fall back on , and the sperm gene has been linked with shorter life.
being a man makes you more unhealthy, no doubt.

Im 28 & I just had a health scare that could effect me having children, my bf is slow on wanting to conceive..?

Here is the scoop: Im 28 yrs old & I just recently had a health scare w/ abnormal pap results saying I have high grade squamous intra epithelial cells (pre-cancerous cells) of the cervix & had a colposcopy done last week & Im awaiting the lab results to tell me whether I have cervical cancer or not, the details, treatment options etc. & Ive been really scared, and my biggest fear is not being able to have children or have complications. Im 28 & not getting any younger & two years ago, met my bf who is a great guy & we live togerher & lately Ive been thinking I may not have the time to wait any longer to have kids. Ive wanted them awhile ago, but always wanted to do things the "right way" & get married first, but due to financial obligations it hasnt happened yet. Im thinking that if I dont have cancer, I want to have a child soon, before it comes back. Ive talked to my bf about this & he agrees, but I dont think he is taking me as seriously as I want him to. Any advice??
Oh yeah & he is 31 yrs old, I keep telling him we arent getting any younger & my health is freaking me out right now, so before I might not be able to conceive, I want to try as soon as we find out the results (I pray they are not bad!) He wants the big wedding (his family is catholic) & I just want a simple wedding, & things dont always work "the right way" & some people dont have time on their side to make things the fairytale way. I just dont think he understands since Im a woman & the older you get the harder it is to get pregnant, plus w/ my health scare, who knows!

Would you please help me make a wise choice regarding my old dog health issue?

The facts: My old mini schnauzer, who has been a part of my family since he was a toddler is now 10 years old; he suddenly fainted twice, vet runned tests regarding heart and respiratory system; prognosis negative: his heart is bigger and kinda twisted to the right plus he's developing lung cancer; vet can't run more tests to determine the extend of cancer nor some sort of chemotherapy for dogs to try to cure it cause he'll have to sedate him and he might not wake up. He prescribed some drugs that will help him lead a decent life while he's still with us (on top I have to carry him to the kitchen or bed cause distance is kinda tiring in his condition) Today he fainted again after his afternoon meal he seems fine now; responsive and kind of alert (not as he used to be) but these episodes despite they happen in a matter of seconds also happen in a 5-day basis (last one = last monday) My mom thinks we should talk to vet to put him to sleep and avoiding suffering MONDAY; but I don't knwo what to do; he has a schedule check up Dec 31 to determine if a new EXPERIMENTAL drug to not cure but avoid cancer developing aside from lungs...I just don't know what to do...please give me your SERIOUS, SINCERE AND THOUGHTFUL OPINION cause I really don't know whom to listen to mom (put our dog out of this suffering) or vet (try said drug) I love him so much I wanna do what's right for him...he still might have a chance but I don't wanna see him suffer no more PLEASE HELP!!!
Thanks 4 UR suggestion Nancy; yes those seconds when he's knocked down stone cold either for his heart or lungs are both just horrible and crucial cause I gotta act fast on a resusitation technique vet instructed me to...so far it has done the job; BTW the term of Put Him DOWN gives me the real chill creeps; I PREFER= PUT HIM TO SLEEP
Thank you Janelle; that's the kind of suffering I want to avoid and that's why is so hard for me to make this desicion; I wanna be responsible for his welfare not his murder...I just don't know what to do, but I asure you he ain't going to suffer...
Bonzie, Hereema and Weke; Thanks for your advices I will totally have them in mind; specially Bonzie's cause I know that keeping him with us is what I really want but also I must make sure that he'll fine while he's here; I will check and double check the pros and cons of this drug; how much good can it be and how damage can it make too!
KEKER I just printed the test you provided me and will answer it in a better state of mind tomorrow and even show it to the vet so he can professionally evaluate it; God, whom ever you might consider He is, bless you!!!

American health care system outperforms the socialized systems in Europe?

"A new study by the Karolinska Institute in Sweden shows that the American health care system outperforms the socialized systems in Europe in getting new medicines to cancer patients. The difference saves lives, and the existing Western European systems force people to die at higher rates from the same cancers, although the Telegraph buries that lede. The researchers studied Australia, Canada, New Zealand, Japan, South Africa and the US, as well as 19 European countries, with a total population of 984 million, and looked at access to 67 newer cancer drugs. They found that the proportions of female cancer patients surviving five years beyond diagnosis in France, Spain, Germany, Italy were 71 per cent, 64 per cent, 63 per cent and 63 per cent respectively. In the UK it was 53 per cent. Among men the proportions still alive at five years in the same countries were 53 per cent, 50 per cent, 53 per cent and 48 per cent. Again in the UK it was lower at 43 per cent."

The survivability rates beyond five years of diagnosis in the United States are far in excess of all of these socialized countries with socialized medicine. Here's the point, though, and it takes a while in the story for it to show up. Here's the reference in the story about the American system. "Dr. Nils Wilking, a clinical oncologist at the Karolinska Institute in Stockholm, said: "Our report highlights that in many countries new drugs are not reaching patients quickly enough and that this is having an adverse impact on patient survival. Where you live can determine whether you receive the best available treatment or not. To some extent this is determined by economic factors, but much of the variation between countries remains unexplained. In the US we have found that the survival of cancer patients is significantly related to the introduction of new oncology drugs.' ... The proportion of colorectal cancer patients with access to the drug Avastin was 10 times higher in the US than it was in Europe, with the UK having a lower uptake than the European average."

United States health care saves more lives than socialized medicine, and yet socialized medicine is one of the building blocks of the Democrat Party's agenda, particularly Mrs. Bill Clinton's agenda. Now, it's the same thing with tax revenue that we were just discussing. If current tax rates are producing record amounts of revenue and rapid economic growth, why would you change it? If the US health care system is the best in the world, despite its flaws -- if it's the best in the world and people who come down with deadly diseases survive much longer here because of access to drugs much sooner and much cheaper than people who live in socialized countries have access to it -- why in the world would you change it? Well, there's a simple answer. Socialists want control. They want as much control over us as they can get. It's about power. It's about enlarging the State. It's about making you dependent, and that eliminates your threatening their power. The less wealth you have, the less mobility, freedom, the less of a threat you are to their power. This is liberalism through and through.

Now you might ask: "How come so many average Americans are liberals and they're willing to give up this power?" Because they're dupes. I'm talking about the leaders. I'm talking about the people in Washington. I'm talking about the think tank leaders. I'm talking about the special interest groups. Liberals in this country, these doofuses that write the hateful comments on Internet blogs, they're just unhappy people in general. They want everybody else to be miserable with them anyway. They're probably jealous of people who do better than them and they want those people taken down a peg or two. They want everything the same. Everything the same. No inequality. No inequity. They want outcome of results. They're sickos and they're miserable and they're unhappy and they want everybody to join them in that. But you talk about ideology? Liberals believe this and conservatives believe this. It's really very, very simple. Conservatives believe in individual liberty and freedom and ambition so that people can become the best they can be, because it is believed that the greatest society and the greatest culture, the greatest country, is achieved by the greatest number of people pursuing excellence. Liberals don't have that faith in people and they don't want that kind of freedom. They want to be in charge. They want to have the power and they want people dependent because that is what enriches them in every which way you can imagine.

Would radical diet change solve the health care crisis?

Today, we have diseases of poverty and also diseases of excess. In America and other Western countries, people suffer from high protein diet related diseases such as diabetes, some cancers, obesity, and heart disease. According to T. Colin Campbell, we could see a huge reduction in these diseases in America if we all ate less animal protein (dairy & meat).

Is nutrition something to consider in the current health crisis of exploding costs?

Should we levy huge taxes on McDonald's, KFC, and other unhealthy food products to encourage better meal choices?

Perhaps we should subsidize leafy green vegetables instead of high fructose corn syrup. What do you think?

Why do conservatives demonize universal health care?

I'm English born, but came to America when I was a child. Anyway, England considers their health care a "national treasure." Lately, I've seen quiet a few commericals trying to persuade people not to "be like england" and dont want universal health care. I dont know why people are so affraid of universal health care. Its more affordable, its more humane and it makes more sense (which is why virtually every other industrialized country has it).

Contrary to what the commericals claim, you dont have to wait for months to see a doctor in "those" countries. My mom had cervical cancer and got treatment immediatley. My gran had breast cancer and got treatment immediatley. My brother had 2 heart operations and 6 brain operations before he was 5 and never waited.

In fact, if we had been in America then and had no health care, my mom probably wouldn't of gone for her check ups and may have died from cervical cancer.

My question: why are people making such a fuss over socialized health care? We are paying roughly 3 times as much as the OECD average and recieving care that is well below average. The only people that claim that we have the best care in the world are those who appose universal health care.

What is the best diet for me to start considering I have had some serious health issues and I am diabetic?

Other info: I have also had a kidney removed due Renal cell carcinoma and recently developed an abcess that was caught early and the wound is now being care for as an open wound and will eventually closed on its own. I have heard the South Beach is good, and so is Sugar Busters, is as well. However, I want something that won't destroy my remaining kideny as well.

I need a nutritional plan for weight loss. Advice for good eating habits that supports health, NOT crash diet

i need to know some good foods to eat for building muscle and losing fat. Also, i crave carbs and have bad habits of eating tortillas, bread, meals late at night.

My exercise habits are STELLAR and I feel great about that part...weight lifting, yoga, and lots of cardio.

Now I just need a good steady "meal plan" or meal tips.
I like protein shakes and milk, for starts.
Thanks for the good advice so far, but I am really looking for a list of suggested foods--something more specific.....i can log the foods i have eaten , but i still won't really know if they are bad/good. see what I mean? i need guidelines, website links, info from a nutritionist, etc.

Every time my teacher talks about sex in health class, I get really nauseous and queezy. Why?

Whevener my teacher talks about the male reproductive system, and we get into the topic of semen, sperm secretions, and ejaculation (etc.), it disgusts me and I feel I am about to vomit. It's worse than anything I've expirienced before.

Why am I so sensitive to the subject of male sexual reproduction?

Ejaculation/orgasm problems I am a 53 year old male in good health – I exercise sufficiently + a healthy diet.

During my early 40's I quite suddenly began to experience pain when ejaculating. At first I thought it was a temporary infection but I never returned to normal. After recent medical checks I discovered my prostate had slightly enlarged (though no cancer) so maybe this has led to the pain/lack of any kind of "force" during ejaculation/reduced ejaculate/no orgasm. Now not surprisingly I have much less desire + I can hardly be bothered to have sex. Can I rectify this problem or is it just the ageing process? I do not have any problems achieving an erection .
