is this right? things to avoid during chemotherapy?

My fiance's grandma was diagnosed with stomach cancer.. she has a really large tumor. I was wondering.. his mother says that the grandmother can have no dust in the house whatsoever, can not have sunlight, and cannot eat ANY raw veggies- everything has to be cooked to be sterilized. she's in her mid 50's. my mother had lung cancer and 4 years of chemo and we were never instructed to do this.. she was at the cancer treatment centers of america and they had a bunch of naturopathic and homeopathic doctors working with her encouraging the fresh fruits and veggies as well as exposure to fresh air. i'm confused.

oh she has diabetes too.

Hair loss AFTER regrowth after chemotherapy?

My mother had breast cancer and underwent chemotherapy. All her hair fell out, but some time after the chemo ended, it grew back. It had reached a length of about an inch and a half, but now, her hair is starting to fall out yet again without any known cause. Right now, there are noticeable spots near her hairline, on both sides of her head, where the hair is falling out again. She doesn't know why it might be happening, and her doctors all don't know what to tell her, so they're being of no use. It's been about a year after her initial mastectomy (surgery), and about two months ago she had a very small, benign brain tumor removed. Does anybody know any possible causes for this new hair loss after it has already grown back?

What is the difference between the chemotherapy drugs when used from different manufacturers?

I want to know whether it is fine to use chemotherapy drugs like paclitaxel and carboplatin from any manufacturers or not. What is the difference between the drugs from different manufacturers? If we have one cycle from one and the other from the other manufacturer, will it be equally effective as using a single manufacturer ?

What was the worst thing about your chemotherapy treatments? The puking, fatigue, the hospital visit? What?

I had a grade 3 astrocytoma brain tumor and underwent a seven hour craniotomy with motor mapping at UCSF. I had external beam radiation and six rounds of BCNU chemotherapy treatments, via an IV. Rounds1-3 were not that bad. Rounds 4-6 were horrible. I puked, dry heaved nothing but spit and air, slept a lot, ate nothing that i could keep in my stomach for more than an hour or so. Even when i drank water after an infusion, I would puke it up. My teeth looked like hell and i got sores on the edges and insides of my mouth.

But I survived it and am six years cancer free.

What are the signs that Chemotherapy is working?

Hi everybody.
I am currently getting chemotherapy for Lymphoma. I do know that my most severe symptoms are gone, but I wonder how can I (without the PET or CT scans) have some signs whether it may be working.
My severe symptoms were coughing and sweating. They don't seem to happen anymore

Should I continue with chemotherapy even though there is evidence of further spread of my cancer?

The thought of wasting money that could be saved to pay for our children's education if I die from cancer anyway is bothering my husband. I'm halfway through my first series of chemo for recurring breast cancer and a recent CT scan has shown a 1cm suspicious spot on one of my lungs. Should I just continue with the current plan (7 more treatments) and then cheerfully begin getting things in order and just live on as long as I can without further medical intervention?

Info about chemotherapy please?

I am a writer and I have a few questions that I can't begin to research unless I have more information to begin with. I'm NOT a doctor, so I don't understand a lot of the articles I've been finding. If anybody could answer just one of these questions I would be SO grateful!!!!

1. Can Brachytherapy (A type of radiation therapy, which I KNOW works) treat leukemia? And what kinds of Leukemia can it treat?

2. If the Leukemia is in the bone marrow, would it be in all bones or just in one area?

3. How do you know when the treatment won't work, and will you be able to guess the time the patient has left? (I don't mean to sound so rude about it, I can't think of any other way to say it but do you know when they'll die. I'm sorry!!!!)

4. And any general information about it, specifically Acute Lymphocytic leukemia, would be SO helpful. Thank you so much!!!

Other than chemotherapy, are there other ( and better) treatments for blood cancer?

About 1.5 months ago my cousin got blood cancer, and had to go through chemotherapy. Unfortunately it didnt work. The chemotherapy punctured her lungs, and from that she died. Just out of curiosity, i would like to know whether there better treatments than chemotherapy.

Will hair grow back after chemotherapy if you have your head covered constantly?

My mother has a later stage of Lung cancer and finished chemo/radiation approximately a month ago. She's very upset about losing her hair and was told it should start growing back 3 weeks after chemo ended but hasn't yet. She has a question that I cannot answer with complete accuracy so I'm looking for help. If her head is always covered by a wig or hats/scarfs will her hair still grow back, or should she uncover her head while she's home? She thinks "airing out" her head will help the hair grow.
Thank you kindly for the warm wishes and responses... my mother and I both thank you :)

Getting drunk while doing Chemotherapy shots for cancer?

My mom's friend went out last night after her last shot of Chemotheraly for her "breast cancer". She drank (to celebrate) about 11 mixed drinks ( rum and coke). Of course she was out of it last night (falling over, can't think straight, etc.). When my mom called her this morning to check on her she was not talking or breathing right. Mom mom said she couldn't understand what she was saying because she was mumbeling stuff and breathing really weird. Should we call an ambulance to her house. Now rememebr she just a a chemotherapy shot before she got drunk....what should we do...we can't go over there (no car)
okay now she is saying she took 4 orange pills when she got home last night. She says she doesn't know what they were. My mom's friend is going to check on her and call her DR. thanks for your answers.

How does chemotherapy affects dogs?

My 4 year old boxer just got diagnosed with multiple carcinoma. I always knew this breed has this type of health problems, but I didn't expect it to be so soon, and out of nowhere, he's always been a really healthy and active dog. He's my baby and I love him so much, can't even think of everything he is goona go through.
The prognosis is good, 'cause we caught it early. He's starting chemo next week, and don't know what to expect... besides what the vet has told me.
But i would like to know if anyone has actually gone throught it and any words of advice are more than welcome, and extremely appreciated. But above all I need success stories, to keep my hopes up.
I have faith everything is going to be allright, but at the same time can't stop worrying for secondary effects.
